BEIJING, Oct.10 (Xinhuanet) --French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian says France's air force attacked an ISIL training camp overnight, referring to the group using the Arabic acronym Da'esh.
"The threat for France is Da'esh. In Syria potential attacks are being organised, the training of foreign combatants is being organised whose mission is to come and strike us here, France's enemy is Da'esh. Bashar (al-Assad) is the enemy of his own people and he has been for a long time. It's from Bashar that the chaos flows," Jean-Yves Le Drian said.
France launched its first airstrike in Syria on September 27, saying it had destroyed an ISIL training camp. It said the attack was in "self defence". France has provided weapons and logistical support to militant groups in the past, and has repeatedly said Assad would have to go before government troops and rebels could together defeat ISIL.
