"The collection is inspired by living tree bridges in India. These are bridges that are not grown or built by human hands; they are really grown by the roots of trees. And these bridges are there already for hundreds of years, and they constantly change their shape and functionality therefore, and for me it was a really beautiful example of living architecture and potential for us in the future of it," Herpen said.

That translated into clothing made from a variety of materials and models lifted to new heights on platform heels.
