BEIJING, Oct. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Typhoon Mujigae has claimed 19 lives and left four people missing since it landed in south China's Guangdong Province Sunday.
Mujigae, the 22nd typhoon this year, brought fierce winds and torrential rain that uprooted trees and electric poles, destroyed road structures and flooded low-lying areas.
In Guangdong Province alone, about 3.5 million people were affected. Power supply facilities were damaged in parts of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan, causing blackouts in nearly 5 million households.
Workers with the southern China power grid have been laboring all-out to repair the damages and, as of Tuesday morning, power supply had been restored in nearly 80 percent of the households.
Local power authorities say it will be fully restored within seven days.
