U.S. denounces Russian incursion into Turkish airspace

English.news.cn   2015-10-07 11:10:16

BEIJING, Oct. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Turkey has threatened to respond to two reported Russian incursions into Turkish airspace in two days. The U.S. and NATO have also denounced Moscow's move. The White House called the incursions a "provocation," and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said they could lead to an escalated Syrian conflict.

"We are greatly concerned about it because it is precisely the kind of thing that, had Turkey responded under its rights, it could have resulted in a shootdown, and it is precisely the kind of thing we warned against," said John Kerry, U.S. secretary of State.
