BEIJING, Oct.1 (Xinhuanet) -- Russian warplanes have conducted air strikes in Syria in cooperation with the Syrian air force. A Syrian security source says that the planes bombed terrorist positions in Hama, Homs and Latakia provinces.
The Russian defense ministry says it conducted about 20 flights, hitting eight Islamic State targets and destroying an ISIL command post and operations center. Russian President Vladimir Putin has spoken about the military action, stressing the need to act pre-emptively to combat international terrorism in Syria and neighbouring countries.
