Overseas Chinese encouraged by Xi's speech

BEIJING, Sept. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- After listening to President Xi's speech to overseas Chinese in the US, the Chinese communities around the world are pledging to do their parts to contribute to the bilateral ties.

"In his speech to overseas Chinese in the US, President Xi said he hopes they could make contributions to the China-US friendship. Chinese in the UK have been encouraged by his words. We are participants, builders and promoters of China-UK relations," said Li Hai, Beijing Association of The UK.

"I taught Chinese in the UK for six years. I built my own Chinese school six years ago. During my work, I realized I am spreading Chinese culture and Chinese philosophy to the UK students. I am also telling China stories to the next generation of the UK. These are my own efforts to put into practice President Xi Jinping's words."

"We will strive to integrate into the local society, especially mainstream society. On this front, I think the Chinese communities in France are really making an effort. We want our culture to be seen on the world stage, to promote it, and introduce it to other nations. As overseas Chinese, we feel such responsibility, myself included," said Zhang Changbao, China-France Friendship Association.

"In as little as 20 years, I think the Chinese community in Brazil has grown into a force. We have a place in Brazil in every industry, including trade, business, restaurants and so on," said Wei Wanggu, Chinese living in Brazil.
