BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Stephon Marbury, who has led the Beijing Ducks to three CBA titles since joining the club in 2012. The former two-time NBA All-Star also became an Honorary Citizen of China in 2014, and was reportedly issued a Permanent Residence Card recently. But the 38 year-old guard is more than just a player, he's also a bridge between Chinese and American culture and recently, he sat down with Wang Dong in Los Angeles to talk about his role as ambassador.
Stephon Marbury has become a local hero after helping Beijing lift the CBA championship trophy three times, but his life in the Chinese capital extends further than the basketball court. A Stage play based on his life is just one of them and the American is trying to do what he can to get fully involved with local culture.
Marbury was born in Brooklyn, New York. But soon might may become a permernent resident of China having been here for many year. Last April, the 38-year-old announced his plans to apply for a Chinese green card, which according to him, is a wish that he has since joining the CBA.
