BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran says it will work with Russia to help Syria find a way out of its crisis.
Speaking in Moscow, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said Tehran and Moscow agree that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad should be part of any political resolution.
"Tehran and Moscow intend to use all possibilities to work together with Syria to help the country out of this crisis...Bashar al-Assad, a legitimate president of Syria, will be a part of the political resolution to the Syrian problem," he said.
Syrian military officials say Damascus has received new warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft from Russia to fight the Islamic State militant group.
The officials say the aircraft arrived on Friday at a military base in Latakia province.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged to continue military support for the Syrian government.
On Monday, US officials said Russia has started flying surveillance drones on missions in Syria. Russia says the assistance is in line with international law.
