BEIJING, Sept. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- As Chinese President Xi Jinping began his state visit to the United States, global attention has been put on the possible cooperation between the two nations... as well as on how they will address their differences.
When China and the U.S. work together, it can have a global impact- like the historic climate change deal inked last November in Beijing.
And as the visit by President Xi begins, both Chinese and U.S. officials see more potential.
Aside from this global responsibility when national interests are at stake- however they are tensions.
China maintains the U.S. is trying to insert itself into South China Sea sovereignty disputes in support of its allies.
And Beijing continues to warn the U.S. about close-in reconnaissance flights off the Chinese coast.
The U.S. accuses Chinese interests of industrial cyber espionage - and has threatened sanctions.
And both sides complain about the lack of access to each other's economy.
The disputes have led scholars in Beijing and Washington to talk of a potential tipping point in relations.
Differences between nations of course are normal but given the unique interdependence between the U.S. and China-managing and understanding those differences are a constant focus for both sides.
Both Beijing and Washington have put a lot of effort into managing their differences lately. Increasing military to military contacts, for example, has led to a decrease of tensions in the East and South China Seas.
It's hope to on this trip there will be rules of the roads established for cyber sercurity. And also greater co-operation on managing global economic.
When it comes to disagreement, both sides agree that working together is the only way forward.
