BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- 746 new confirmed cases of Dengue fever in China's Taiwan had been reported on Friday, a record high for a single day. Local officials say total confirmed cases have surpassed 12,000. Tainan city was the worst hit with over 10,000 cases.
Average new cases in Tainan are 500 to 600 per day. So far, 25 people have died of Dengue fever this year. Local authorities have adopted relative measures to tackle the outbreak, expected to peak later this month and early next month. About 150 machines which can spray anti-virus medicine have been deployed in Tainan and Kaohsiung city.
