BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- China's top political adviser Yu Zhengsheng has arrived in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region. He is leading a central government delegation to attend festivities marking the 50th anniversary of the region's founding.
One of the major events, a grand celebration ceremony, will be held in front of the iconic Potala Palace Tuesday morning. Yu Zhengsheng's 65-member delegation includes central government and party officials, and officials in charge of affairs related to aiding Tibet.
The Tibet Autonomous Region was founded September 1, 1965, after the establishment of the regional People's Congress, the local legislature.
Last month, President Xi Jinping vowed a focus on long-term, comprehensive stability and an unswerving anti-separatism battle in Tibet at a key work meeting.
