BEIJING, Sept.3 (Xinhuanet) -- Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger says the victory-day celebrations have been significant both to China's past and present. And China and the U.S. need to solve common problems.
"It sort of marks a combination of a phase of history...that China had been occupied, subject to intrusion from foreign countries..has now constituted itself and goes back to a historical position, as one of the leading powers...And so I think it tributes in a way to China's past, and it's an indication of Chinese strength. But I am assuming that our relationship will be based on showing each other a military potential, but finding a way to solve common problems," Kissinger said.
