BEIJING, Aug. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Austrian authorities uncover around 200 asylum seekers and arrest five human smugglers as part of a new operation along the country's eastern border.
Austria is toughening controls on its border with Hungary in an attempt to clamp down on the movement of migrants fleeing conflicts in the Middle East and Africa. The crackdown comes after 71 refugees were found dead in an abandoned truck on an Austrian highway last week after travelling through Hungary.
Austian interior minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner says the controls will be in place for an undetermined length of time at all important eastern region border crossings with Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic.
