BEIJING, Aug. 31 (Xinhuanet) --Italy is using the 2015 IAAF World Championships in Beijing to sprint ahead in its relations with China.

The Italian Federation of Athletics and Italy's national public broadcasting company, Rai, held a closing ceremony at the "Casa Italiana Atletica", or the Home of Italian Athletes, after launching it last Saturday.

Former Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and Italian Ambassador to China Ettore Francesco Sequi attended the closing event.

They exchanged ideas on China's Belt and Road Initiatives and vowed to help deepen economic cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The "Casa Italiana" tours around the world, following major sporting events that feature Italian athletes. It aims to introduce Italian products and culture to local public, and bridge Italian organizations and enterprises with global partners.

Organizers say the latest events in Beijing attracted all together over 3,000 visitors. Ambassador Sequi said after the final ceremony that Italy's role in China's Belt and Road Initiatives is significant.
