BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also says a two-day ceasefire between warring sides in Syria has come into force.
The new ceasefire is in the town of Zabadani, and the two villages of Kefraya and al Foua in the northwestern province of Idlib. It is the second ceasefire in a month in these areas, between the rebels on one side and the Syrian army and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah on the other.
Earlier, the secretary general of Syria's Tadamun Party and a mediator of the truce, confirmed the ceasefire would begin at 6 a.m. local time. The previous ceasefire begun on August 12, but broke down after a brief extension.
