BEIJING, August 26 (Xinhuanet) -- This year marks the 70th anniversary of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the end of World War II.
The State Council Information Office has just held a news conference on preparations for China's commemoration of the war anniversary. It was announced that on September 2, Chinese President Xi Jinping will award medals to veterans who fought in the resistance war.
On September 3, known as Victory Day in China, a series of commemorative events—including a rally, a military parade, a reception and an evening gala—will be held in Beijing.
Thirty country leaders, as well as representatives from 19 countries and 10 organizations, will take part in the events. Troops from countries around the world have also been invited for the first time to participate in the military parade.
"Nearly 1,000 people from the formations and representative teams of foreign troops will participate in the march-past. Each formation consists of about 75 people, and each representative team is made up of about seven people. They will march between the PLA foot formations and ground armament formations," said major general Qu Rui, deputy director of Office of PLA September 3rd Parade Leading Group
"So far, foreign troops from the 17 countries have arrived at the parade's training base and are currently training with their Chinese counterparts."
