BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- China has sent a fresh batch of relief aid to flood-hit Myanmar. Motorized dinghies worth 1.6 million US dollars were flown in on Saturday night to help with rescue operations.
The official Chinese relief mission is led by Ambassador Hong Liang. It has already donated supplies worth 300,000 dollars to the hard-hit regions of Sagaing and Magway, as well as Rakhine State. And individual Chinese provinces and companies have also lent a hand. The southwestern province of Yunnan recently sent aid worth 400,000 dollars.
While on Friday, the Chinese Enterprises Association in Myanmar and two mining companies donated 40,000 dollars' worth of basic supplies like rice and oil to villages in Sagaing. The severe flooding since June has so far killed 106 people, affected 1.3 million, and ravaged farmlands and infrastructure across the country.
