BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Actor Vin Diesel is on a role. Sequels to his highly successful franchises are in the works, including "Furious 8" and "Guardians of the Galaxy". His latest film, 'The Last Witch Hunter', is coming out this fall.
This time, he's an immortal time-traveller, and with a bit more to say than his 'Guardians-of-the-Galaxy' character.
"Everyone knows I love challenges, who else would play a three monosyllabic word character like 'Groot' and like the challenge of that? And I guess the challenge of this was being able to play an immortal character that crosses in and out of various centuries and generations that he has. And that felt like an interesting challenge as an actor," said Diesel. Even though "Last Witch Hunter" won't hit theaters for several more months, a sequel is already planned.
Diesel said:"For me that's cool. When a studio is that excited about what you're doing and that dialogue comes after they see the movie, which is always another telltale sign that they themselves enjoyed the movie, because the movie hasn't been out yet and they already are creating the sequel story, and that's fun for me. That's a huge compliment for me - when a studio wants to continue the evolution of a character that I've portrayed."
The 48-year-old Diesel - though recently named as the third highest-paid actor in the world by Forbes Magazine - is always looking for more work. Now he has his eye on the next "Dungeons and Dragons" film.
"I haven't seen the script, but it would be wise for them (laughs) to at least. I haven't, I haven't seen the script, and that is just new, that just came up. And there was apparently some litigation stuff that kept it locked up for a while, and so it's just coming out, and I have been so focused on this as you know. I am kind of a tunnel-vision guy. I really commit everything to the movie of the moment."
"The Last Witch Hunter" is scheduled for U.S. release on October the 23rd.
