BEIJING, August 2 (Xinhuanet) -- Debris resembling an airplane cabin door has washed up on the French island of Reunion in the Indian Ocean. Officials haven't been able to confirm what kind of aircraft the door belongs to. But the latest find is in addition to an airplane flaperon that was discovered on the same island on Wednesday.
Malaysian Minister of Transport Liow Tiong Lai meanwhile said that French authorities, Boeing and US and Malaysian investigators have confirmed that the flaperon came from a Boeing 777 aircraft. That is the same model as missing flight MH370. The flaperon arrived in Paris' Orly airport on Saturday from Reunion island. Investigators will begin analysing it at a laboratory in Toulouse on Wednesday to see if it did indeed come from MH370.
A team of experts from France, Malaysia, and Boeing will be working on the analysis. France has said the French investigators are not expected to begin examining the wreckage before Wednesday afternoon and their Malaysian counterparts will also be present.
On Monday, three French magistrates as well as a Malaysian legal representative and an official from France's civil aviation investigating authority BEA will begin meeting behind closed doors in Paris. Experts hope the flaperon could yield clues as to the fate of MH370, which vanished without trace in March 2014.
