BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhuanet) -- The Turkish government says it is determined to continue fighting terrorism as the country launched airstrikes against both ISIL and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party in Iraq and Syria on Saturday.
Ankara said it is working on creating a "safe zone" across northern Syria.
The strikes follow Turkey's first-ever air attacks on Islamic State militants in Syria a day earlier.
Turkey has dramatically cranked up its role in the US-led coalition against the jihadist group, after a suspected ISIL suicide bomber killed 32 people this week in Suruc, a town close to the Syrian border.
But Ankara has also pledged to target Kurdish militants, raising concern about the future of the shaky Kurdish peace process.
Critics, including opposition politicians, have accused President Tayyip Erdogan of trying to use the campaign against the Islamic State as an excuse to crack down on Kurds.
