German and Spanish giants set to face off in Beijing

English.news.cn   2015-07-23 09:54:30

BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Soccer fans in Beijing are in for a real treat when German champion Bayern Munich takes on Spanish giant Valencia at the Bird’s Nest Stadium Saturday.

This will be the first time the Bavarian club has visited the Chinese capital since its pre-season tour of China in 2013.

Last season was tough but successful for Bayern. Pep Guardiola's men captured a league and cup double in Germany, and the players will arrive in Beijing full of confidence, looking for a good pre-season ahead of their next campaign.

After their visit to Beijing, they will travel to Shanghai and Guangzhou for matches against Inter Milan and Evergrande. Those in attendance can expect some of the best talents, such as Thomas Mueller and Xabi Alonso, to be on show.

But Dutch superstar Arjen Robben will be absent.

"It was discussed and planned that way. I actually feel quite well. It is better to work for one week and join the team again. It is not the case that I am injured, it is simply better that way," Robben said.
