Father's Day coincides with Dragon Boat Festival

English.news.cn   2015-06-22 14:50:22

BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhuanet) -- This year, holiday makers had one more reason to celebrate, as Father's Day overlapped with the traditition festival. The day, which has its origins in the United States, is celebrated on the third Sunday in June. And in recent years, it's gained popularity also in China.

According to a survey by a travel agency website, over 80 percent of those polled had planned to take a trip over the long weekend and more than 65 percent of them were going with their fathers or children.

In terms of holiday spending, father's day themed promotions were all over e-commerce websites. Products on sale range from razors, clothing to baby diapers.

Social media websites have been swarmed with pictures of fatherly love. The pictures are of course subtle, because in China, fathers are stereotypically sedate and reserved and never express their feelings.
