BEIJING, June 2 (Xinhuanet) -- China's military will hold land and air live fire drills along a part of the border with Myanmar according to the Defence Ministry. This came after repeated incidents of shells or bombs from the clashes in Myanmar falling in Chinese territory. China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson called for the peace and tranquillity along the border during the press conference on Monday.
"This activity falls within the normal remit of the army. In terms of the issue that you mentioned, of bombs from Myanmar falling within the Chinese border recently, we expressed our position on that point. We think the situation in northern Myanmar touches upon peace and tranquillity in the China-Myanmar border region, we are willing at this point to once again urge those concerned in Myanmar to show restraint and prevent an escalation in the conflict, and to cool down the situation as soon as possible so as to avoid loss of safety and order along the China-Myanmar border. We hope Myamar and China would make joint efforts to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations," said Hua Chunying, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
