BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The state funeral for Singapore's founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew will be held this afternoon. The country will bid a final to farewell Lee, who died at the age of 91 on Monday.
The funeral cortege will cover a distance of 15.4 kilometers, passing significant national landmarks, such as the Old Parliament House, and the City Hall, en route to the University Cultural Centre at the National University of Singapore. There the funeral service is expected to begin at 0600 GMT.
President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and foreign leaders including Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao will attend the funeral. The funeral comes at the end of a week of national mourning.
Local media report more than one million people have visited tribute sites across Singapore to pay their respects.
