BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhuanet) -- A Malaysian official says the Association of South East Asian Nations will fully cooperate with the establishment of the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, or AIIB.
Malaysian second Finance Minister Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah made the remarks after the inaugural Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, Finance Ministers' and Central Bank Governors' Meeting on Saturday.
He said that ASEAN will provide more sources of funding to the region along with the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund. They will wait for China to state the extent to which ASEAN countries can contribute, along with the structure and model of the AIIB.
So far, over 30 countries have applied to join the bank as founding members, with Australia shortly expected to sign up.
