BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The world meets to discuss China's economic growth at the 16th China Development Forum. Sponsored by the State Council, the conference officially opened today. Domestic and international officials, scholars, political advisers and world-class business people have gathered to share their wisdom on China's future.

Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli delivered a keynote speech this morning, welcoming guests and vowing to resolutely push forward with China's "New Normal" growth model.

It is the first large-scale international conference in the country after the two sessions. The China Development Forum serves as an important platform for the Chinese government to conduct candid exchanges and discussions with international participants. China's Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony.

"Under this New Normal, the Chinese economy has three features, namely, changing speed, improving structure, and shifting growth momentum. We should recognize, adapt to and guide the New Normal. This will be the big theme for China's economic development at present and in the future," said Zhang Gaoli.

Experts from academia, businesses and institutions will participate in more than 40 panel discussions on a wide range of issues, from China’s industrial upgrade to the facilitation of inclusive free trade…and the key theme of this year’s forum, is China’s economic new normal.

To maintain stable growth of the economy, the Chinese government proposed the concept of the "twin engines" for growth: promoting innovation while increasing the supply of public services. Experts say the first part is no doubt encouraging, but the latter calls for more delicate considerations from the government.

On March the 23rd, the last day of the forum, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will also attend the forum and sit down with overseas participants for more in-depth discussions.
