BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The Prime Minister's Office of Singapore has said former chief Lee Kuan Yew's condition has "worsened".
The 91-year-old has been in hospital for over six weeks with severe pneumonia. At the end of February, the PMO said his condition had improved slightly but he remained on antibiotics. It also said the founding prime minister continued to be sedated and on mechanical ventilation. Earlier this week, a fake photo claiming the death of Lee hit the headlines in many of the world's media.
Police are now investigating a 16-year-old suspect.
Lee co-founded the ruling People's Action Party and became the premier of the newly-born republic in 1965. He stepped down as prime minister in 1990.
