BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A suspected people-smuggling boat carrying about 17 people capsized off Macao on China's southeastern coast on Friday. Ten people have been rescued, leaving seven or eight people still missing.
Authorities say the boat was travelling from Zhuhai in southern China's Guangdong province to Macao when it capsized. According to Macao Customs officials, of the 10 people rescued, six were detained, while a search is on for the four others who have entered Macao.
The boat has been recovered and brought to shore. It was designed to carry only five to six people. Rescue teams have now expanded their search area for the missing on both land and sea.
