Predicted increase in travelers, spending

BEIJING, Feb. 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Compared to 2014, Chinese traveled and spent more this spring festival and it's predicted that trend will continue for the remainder of the year.

According to a study jointly conducted by Ctrip and Chinese Academy of Toursim, 250 million Chinese traveled during the spring festival that is up 11% compared to last year. Spring festival tourism income will reach 140 billion yuan this year, 13% higher than last year's festival.

The study also painted a rosy picture for the year-as-a-whole predicting a total tourism income of 3.9 trillion yuan, 14.7% more than last year.

Meanwhile, according to Ctrip, during the 2015 spring festival, over 1 billion yuan will be spent by Ctrip clients on tourism products. The top three Ctrip tourism products are group travel services, individual travel, and visas. One young Chinese couple completely took the "spring" out of spring festival this year.

Of all the Ctrip spring festival customers, they spent the most money and traveled the longest distance on their 320,000 yuan trip to Antarctica.
