Year of the Sheep starts with smog, rain, snow

English.news.cn   2015-02-20 15:58:50

BEIJING, Feb. 20 (Xinhuanet) – Rain, smog and snow will affect large swathes of China from today, cooling the travel heat during the Spring Festival holiday.

The capital Beijing has seen the first major snowfall since the beginning of this winter, blanketing major streets and roads. The snowy weather will affect most of North and Northeast China, with a heavy snowstorm expected to batter the Northeast.

Smog alerts have been issued for North and Central China, with visibility less than a kilometer. Rain in the South is bringing bone-chilling cold. The worst hit area will be the Southwest, with heavy rain and thunder storms expected.
