Renowned chef Wolfgang Puck is sticking to some traditional dishes, but spicing up others with unexpected surprises. He even drew inspiration from China, incorporating Asian ingredients with a twist on this year's menu.
This year's menu is part tradition; part modern. That's just like the way the movie industry is. It has some of the old things, but we make it a little bit more modern, obviously, and make it taste really good. And we have really modern things like the grilled cauliflower with caramelized lemon and asparagus," Puck said.
"We have grilled Santa Barbara prawns, Hong Kong style where we have a little chili, some ginger, some green onions served with a little rice so we have a little Asian influence; some Chinese influences and we’re also going to have a Peking duck."

The night would not be complete without sweets. Executive pastry chef Della Gossett believes that there is one dessert that is purely universal.
"We have a lot of delicious chocolates: the bon-bons. We have our classic chocolate chip cookies that everyone loves and everyone can identify with. Chocolate is always a favorite," Gossett said.
Taking hours and hours of preparation and a whole team of 375 chefs and culinary staff, the menu is complete with all kinds of seasonal flavors.

This is S'mores cupcake. It looks perfect at just the right size. It also looks very sweet. There seems to be a Marshmallow topping and chocolate underneath. And there's more chocolate inside.
Governor's Ball chair Jeffrey Kurland came up with the theme to design the whole party, from decor to dishes, with a blend of old and new Hollywood. The special design that will remind this year's nominees of the renowned history and classic company that they keep.
Alongside the towering cake featuring a director's slate and black and white pictures of glamorous old Hollywood stars, the whole venue is decorated with vintage pictures in frames. Event producer Cheryl Cechetto couldn't wait to display the nuanced acclaimed actor portraits adorning the hand-painted walls.
"The layers and layers that each photo adds to this event is endless. I stare at every one of them. They'll add such interest. When you’re at an event, you’ll really want to activate everyone's experience. When pieces of decor can add to a conversation, you know you’ve done your job," Cechetto said.
Cecchetto can't wait for the stars to relax after the ceremony and feel comfortable in the timeless environment that the production team has created.
"Its the biggest after-party for the biggest award ever! Anywhere, anyhow! It's actually our privilege to produce what we think is the number one event worldwide," Cechetto said.
No matter whose name is on the envelope, everyone will be able to take home an Oscar at the Governor's Ball -- one made of 24Karat gold and chocolate, that is. The Governor's Ball should keep spirits high, appetites satisfied, and the atmosphere deliciously festive.
