BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang left Beijing for Davos, Switzerland, Tuesday to join 40 other leaders such as Angela Merkel. His speech on China's economic conditions and reforms is among the most anticipated events for the world economic forum.
It's been five years since Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's last visit to Davos.Premier Li is expected to send a clear message of his confidence in China's economic development, in a bid to restore confidence in the country and other emerging market economies.
With the global recovery, the world economy has seen increasing demand for a second pillar beside free trade: infrastructure investment. As an active player in that, China wants to signal that its own growth will benefit other countries.
Li will for sure face questions, arguments and maybe even doubts from the more than 2,500 attendees at the Davos meeting. The premier has already answered some of the questions with his choice of delegates.
The delegation following Premier Li this time is a team of emerging industry leaders in China, such as Ma Yun, who represents Alibaba and the E-commerce empire behind it. On that front, China does have the world's most active online retail space.
Global investors are hoping that Premier Li will help set the agenda for a new business year. China's BRICs peer India is expected to outpace China in terms of growth rate in a few years, while the U.S. recovery and potential rate increases further cloud the attractiveness of emerging markets.
Against that backdrop, analysts say it's high time for China to introduce fresh opportunities to the world.
