BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhuanet) -- Indonesian officials on Tuesday present the second black box of the ill-fated AirAsia Flight that crashed into the Java Sea last month. It was presented to the media at a news conference in Pangkalan Bun.
The cockpit voice recorder was freed from beneath heavy wreckage at a depth of about 30 metres, a day after the flight data recorder was recovered. The device has been sent to Jakarta, where it will be dried and analysed by investigators that will find out what brought down the aircraft.
The analysis of data recorded by the two black boxes could take up to two weeks. The voice recorder captures all conversations between the pilots and with air traffic controllers, as well as any noise in the cockpit, including possible alarms or explosions.
Indonesian Navy commander Widodo said the divers were now focusing on trying to find the plane's fuselage, where he believes most bodies of the victims are trapped. Out of 162 people that were on board the plane only 48 bodies have been recovered so far.
