BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- The Indonesian Transport Ministry says the cockpit voice recorder has been retrieved, and is on board an Indonesian navy ship, bound for the capital Jakarta for analysis. But this has not been officially confirmed yet.
The cockpit voice recorder records conversations between the pilots and air traffic controllers. Media reports say it was found close to where the flight data recorder was recovered from the bottom of the Java Sea on Monday. That recorder has also been transported to Jakarta for investigation.
The Airbus A-320 carrying 162 people crashed into the Java Sea on December 28th in a flight from Indonesia's second-biggest city of Surabaya to Singapore. The search operation, now in its 17th day, has been hampered by big waves and powerful currents. 48 bodies have been recovered, and 34 of them identified.
