BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- On his African tour, Wang Yi is also scheduled to visit four other countries, which each share a history of partnership and cooperation with China. The foreign minister's next stop after Kenya will be to Sudan.
From 2000 to 2011, China began approximately 65 official development finance projects in Sudan, including the construction of a railway network, the Merowe hydroelectric dam, and a gas fired power plant. China also helped Port Sudan establish a number of large-scale container terminals and a refined oil terminal.
Wang Yi will also travel to Cameroon. Since 1982, China has helped Cameroon establish its infrastructure, building roads and sinking wells. This year, construction led by a Chinese company is expected to get underway on a six-lane highway. The 195-kilometer-long artery will link Cameroon's capital Yaoundé with its largest city Douala.
The minister's next stop will be Equatorial Guinea, which received 75 million US dollars in debt relief from China in 2006. China also helped the country complete a Hydropower Station Transmission line project. In 2011, bilateral trade amounted to nearly 2 billion US dollars, with China importing 1.6 billion dollars.
And for the last leg of his African tour, Wang Yi will visit the Democratic Republic of Congo. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, China has provided support to the DRC in building hospitals, hydropower facilities, urban water supply systems, university libraries, stadiums and parliament buildings.
