BEIJING, January 8 (Xinhuanet) --French President Francois Hollande has decreed a day of national mourning for those killed in the Charlie Hebdo shooting. In a televised address to the nation on Wednesday, Hollande said the "message of freedom" from those killed in the shootings would live on.
"At 12 o'clock on Thursday there will be a moment of contemplation across public services," Holland said. "And I invite all the population to take part in it. The flags will be at half-mast for three days.
"Those killed left their mark on generations and generations of French people through their influence, through their rare independence. I want to tell them that we will continue to defend this message -- this message of freedom -- in their name."
