BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A Malaysian-based AirAsia flight en route from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore lost contact with air traffic control.
According to an Indonesian Transport Ministry official, the flight QZ8501 lost contact with the Jakarta air traffic control tower at 6:17 a.m local time.
There were 162 people onboard. The plane had reportedly asked for an unusual route before it lost contact.
