BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- Ukraine has suspended all train and bus services to Crimea due to what it called a 'deteriorating' security situation on the Black Sea peninsula which joined Russia in March.
The suspension of bus and train links has effectively created a Ukrainian transport blockade to and from the region, as Ukraine has already banned sea and air traffic with the territory, which is still serviced by Russian airlines. Ukraine did not say how long the bus and train suspensions would last.
However, other road transport including passenger cars and trucks will still be allowed to travel into and out of Crimea.
Also on Friday, Ukraine’s energy ministry temporarily cut off power supplies to Crimea for the second time in a week because the peninsula had failed to curb consumption as required. However, supplies resumed later in the day.
