BEIJING, 29. November (Xinhuanet) -- That cold front in North China may be bringing some unpleasant weather, but it does mean goodbye to the smog that has been lingering around this week.
There is moderate to severe smog in most parts of Beijing, Tianjin, and several areas in Heibei, Henan, Shandong and Shanxi provinces. But that should gradually be dispersed by the cold air arriving on Sunday.
In the meantime though, some of these areas are also blanketed by thick fog, with visibility dropping to less than 500 meters. The Meteorological Center has issued a "yellow" warning for smog and fog, the second-lowest alert on its four-level scale. Drivers are warned to take extra care where visibility is low, and people are advised to reduce outdoor activities.
