BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- From smoking we now turning to changes in ticket price on the Beijing subway. Price adjustments will raise travelling costs. The new average price for commuters will be 4.3 yuan. This is more than double the price with the current two yuan cost regardless of distance. This will increase the average per capita spending on subway transport by Beijing residents. From 2.6 percent currently to 5.4 percent after December 28.
In 2013, more than half of Beijing subway passengers travelled between four and seventeen kilometers for their average daily commute, and with the new price plan, they would incur between an extra one to three yuan for each trip. That also means spending around forty to 120 yuan more on transport expenses each month.
