BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhuanet) -- A recent report cited that the Chinese army’s efforts on helping West African countries to combat Ebola is meant to show off of its military power. China’s Defense Ministry has refuted the report, saying it is ridiculous and groundless.
"Since the outbreak of Ebola in West African countries, the Chinese army has sent out batches of medical staff and epidemic prevention experts to worst hit Sierra Leone and Liberia to carry out rescue works. Currently the second batch of the medical teams to Sierra Leone has arrived, aiming at expanding the observing centre to a treatment one. Meanwhile, the treatment centre jointly built by China and Liberia came into operation on Tuesday. Chinese troops are also responsible for the collection and transportation of relief goods and will continue to make their best efforts to help West African countries fight against Ebola," said Geng Yansheng, spokesperson of Chinese Defense Ministry.
