BEIJING Nov. 26 (Xinhuanet) -- Singers like Ricky Martin, Shakira and Enrique Iglesias have all had to switch to English, to find true global fame. Current Latin sensation, Prince Royce, wants to follow them with his first album sung in English.
25 year-old singer-songwriter Prince Royce has already conquered the Spanish markets.
Now, he's looking for new fans, with his first all-English album set for release ahead of next summer.
"It's definitely exciting, but I'm not putting too much pressure on myself," Royce said. "I'm taking it easy. I know it's difficult coming from the Latin market and jumping into a whole other world."
"When I'm in the studio recording in English, it's like another Prince Royce so it's definitely fun. So definitely it's been fun jumping into new shoes and trying out a new me. Not a new me because it's always been there, but anew me that my core fans have never heard before."
"Stuck on a Feeling" featuring Snoop Dogg will be the singer's first foray into mainstream markets, later this month.
The single was produced by Maroon 5 producer Jason Evigan.
"This song is called 'Stuck On A Feeling,'" Royce said. "It's basically a very catchy, fun song that you can jam out whether it's in the club or you're in the car blasting with the top down or whatever. It's actually a 112 sample, it's actually one of my favorite songs from 112 called 'Dance With Me'."
Royce was raised in New York's notorious Bronx district, by Dominican parents. He says he speaks and thinks in English but his upbringing was Latin through and through.
With nine No. 1 songs on the Billboard Latin charts and four Grammy nominations, he's certainly not about to give up on the Spanish speaking market.
"The intention is to go 50-50," Royce said. "I have slated an English album and then a Spanish album right after so it's definitely double the work, but I think it's worth it for me. I remember when we were talking about English, Spanish albums I made sure with my team that I could still put out Spanish albums and even if the English thing blows up, I still want to be able to release an English album and come back with a Spanish bachata album for my core fans."
Fans of Prince Royce have plenty to look forward to in 2015, with his fourth Spanish album also in the works.
But for now, a lot depends on the impact of "Stuck on a Feeling", when it comes out at the end of November.
