BEIJING, Nov.20 (Xinhuanet) -- Now going to the efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak. The World Health Organization has warned medical epidemics like Ebola can have wide reverberations around the globe, including on nutrition.
The Director-General of WHO, Dr. Margaret Chan told delegates attending the international nutrition conference in Rome that bush meat is a principal source of food and income for people in Africa. She criticized the attempt to stem the outbreak by banning bush meat, after studies linked wild animals to the start of Ebola.
And Chan said if banned from hunting, selling and consuming this food, people there will starve. And she proposed rules be set on maximum food intake to protect against diet-related disease.
