BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has strongly condemned the attack on a synagogue in West Jerusalem which claimed five lives and injured several others.
Extending his condolences to the families of the victims, the Secretary-General emphasized that attacks against religious sites in Jerusalem and the West Bank point to the more dangerous conflict which reverberates far beyond the region.
He called for political leadership and courage on both sides to address the "very tense" situation in the region and to do everything possible to avoid further escalation.
