BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- A NASA-contracted supply rocket has exploded in the U-S state of Virginia, causing a massive ball of fire, but no apparent deaths.
The unmanned Antares rocket exploded six seconds after leaving the seaside launch site at Wallops Flight Facility in eastern Virginia. It was due to carry over 2,000 kilograms of supplies to the crew on board the International Space Station. The 14-storey rocket was built by Orbital Sciences Corp, and was to be the third contracted mission with NASA, the US space agency. The cause of the failure is yet to be determined.
