BEIJING, Oct. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- A Buddhist temple in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, has come up with a four-day program that allows participants to live the life of a Buddhist monk. 50 people, selected from more than 3,500 applications, will spend four days just as real monks do.
But there's strict conditions for participation. They need to put their cellphones aside, learn Buddhist Scriptures, eat vegetarian food and sit in meditation to experience Buddhist tradition. The 50 short-term monks, who range in age from their twenties to the fifties, come from all walks of life including teachers, doctors, white-collar workers and students.
