BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- President Xi Jinping wrapped up his visit to India on Friday, ending a four nation tour that also took him to Tajikistan, Sri Lanka and The Maldives.
During his three day stay in the country, the President met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee as well as a number of other senior political figures.
President Xi’s visit encompassed the signing of over a dozen agreements on economic cooperation between the two sides. China will help India develop a high-speed rail network, and upgrade its rail infrastructure. Two industrial parks will be set up - one producing power equipment in Modi’s home state of Gujarat, the other making auto parts in India’s western region.
In return, China will give more market access to Indian companies and Indian products, mainly in the pharmaceutical, farming and fuel sectors. There was also a pledge by both sides to work towards increasing cooperation in trade and space exploration.
