BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- During talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Xi said the two sides agreed on cooperation to raise India’s train speed and jointly explore ways to upgrade its railway stations and develop high-speed railways. President Xi said the existing Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore railway line will be among the first for the speed increase, and the two countries will also launch training programs in heavy-haul transportation. In addition, China is to build two industrial parks in the western Indian state of Gujarat and the central state of Maharashtra that produce power transmission equipments and auto parts.
The cooperation will significantly expand China’s current one-billion-dollar investment in India, largely reduce the cost of Chinese enterprises in India, and increase the local employment rate.
"Some of our engineers come back from outside India. Many people with high educational backgrounds want to come back to India to join the mushrooming infrastructure construction here," Yuan Zhongyin, chief engineer of Sucg International Engineering Co. Ltd., said.
"One of the good things now is that India has become much more open to Chinese investment. India will learn a lot from the Chinese experience and boosting bilateral cooperation will also improve the current trade and investment status quo. I think the situation now is very optimistic," Chinese Ambassador to India Le Yucheng said.
