BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he will carry out a major reshuffling of his cabinet next month, amid sagging approval rating numbers for his government.
Abe will discuss the reshuffle plans with the Liberal Democratic Party’s Secretary General, Shigeru Ishiba. According to government sources, Abe intends to appoint Ishiba to a new ministerial post in charge of national security legislation.
It will be Abe’s first major reshuffle since he took office in late 2012, with at least 10 of his 18 ministers expected to be replaced. Three key cabinet ministers are expected to remain in their current posts including Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Taro Aso and, Akira Amari, who is in charge of economic revitalization policies.
