Muslims in China celebrate end of Ramadan

English.news.cn   2014-07-29 19:55:18

BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Celebrations are being held across China on Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important days in the Islamic calender. The day marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.

In Xinjiang Autonomous Region, sweet pastry like this is prepared as people get ready to break their fast. Muslims also clean their homes, prepare sumptuous meals for family reunions, and pray at local mosques for blessings. The holiday is being celebrated with a similar festive mood elsewhere in China, including in the country’s capital Beijing.
